The Prayer God Promises To Answer
Read
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
PSALM 37:4
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.
John 15:7
Reflect
God promises, in His Word, to answer the prayers of His people. Sometimes, His answer may be “no” or “not yet” but we can trust that He will respond.
But there is one prayer He promises to always answer in the affirmative. It’s the prayer of these passages; and it’s one you and I can use to call out to Him each and every day.
Jesus said it something like this: when you are seeking to live your life my way, according to my will, which is revealed in my Word, and you’re asking me to help you do so, I’ll not hold that back from you.
In fact, 2 Peter 1:3 says that, in giving us His Spirit, Jesus has imparted to us His divine power which means we have everything required for life and godliness.
John added, in 1 John 5:14-15, that this promise creates confidence that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of him.
When our greatest delight is in Him, our growing desire is to be like Him.
And as we read in Psalm 37:4, this is a prayer God always grants!
Respond
If there’s anything fighting to draw your affections away from Jesus, jump into the Scriptures so you can be reminded of His sufficiency.
Then, take time to ask God to make you more like His Son today. Give His Spirit complete and total access to your heart. Pray like Jesus: not my will, not what I want, but what you want. Father, help my life to count for you and your Kingdom!
